Despite globalization has facilitated access to all kinds of products, in recent years a growing tendency to value local goods has been observed. Many consumers now actively seek out food produced in their region, not only because it is often fresher, but also because this way they support their local economy and reduce the carbon footprint associated with transport. This awareness has significantly boosted the success of farmers’ markets and small craft businesses. Undoubtedly, this is a positive change that reflects a greater interest in sustainability and quality.

Last summer, my friends and I decided to go on a trip to Granada. As we were students and didn’t have much money, we booked accommodation in a small but very charming hostel in the Albaicín neighbourhood.

On the first day, after dropping off our suitcases, we went directly to visit the Alhambra. We had bought the tickets three months in advance because it’s a very popular place and they sell out quickly. It was an incredible experience! The palaces, the gardens, and the views of the city from there were impressive. We spent the whole afternoon exploring the site.

The next day, we walked through the narrow streets of the Albaicín and tried tapas in several bars. In Granada, when you order a drink, they give you a free tapa, which is fantastic! In the afternoon, we went up to the San Nicolás viewpoint to watch the sunset. There were a lot of people, but the atmosphere was very special. As the sun was setting behind the mountains, the Alhambra was lighting up little by little. It was a magical moment.

On the last day, although we were a bit tired, we wanted to make the most of it. We visited the Cathedral and the Monastery of la Cartuja. Then, we bought some souvenirs for our families. That night, we took the bus back home. We were exhausted, but very happy to have had that adventure. Without a doubt, Granada is a city we will always remember.

The fast fashion industry has become a topic of intense public debate in recent years. On one hand, it has democratized access to the latest trends, allowing a wider public to renew their wardrobe frequently and at affordable prices. However, this accessibility comes at a very high cost for the environment and society.

Firstly, the mass production of clothes consumes a huge amount of natural resources, such as water and oil, and is responsible for a significant part of global carbon emissions. Moreover, to keep costs low, many companies outsource their production to developing countries where workers are often exploited with miserable salaries and dangerous working conditions.

Although this is a harsh reality, there is a growing movement towards a more conscious consumption. More and more consumers demand transparency from brands and look for alternatives like second-hand fashion, sustainable brands, or the «less is more» concept, which prioritizes quality over quantity. While systemic change requires strong political and corporate will, pressure from citizens is already driving a slow but unstoppable transformation in the industry.

Last summer, I was finally able to fulfill a dream I had had for years: to see the ocean. I traveled with my best friend, Marta, to a small coastal city in the south of Spain. The train journey lasted almost six hours, but it didn’t feel boring because we talked and listened to music the whole time.

When we arrived, the first thing we did was to drop off our suitcases at the hostel and run towards the beach. It was incredible! The water was cold at first, but we soon got used to it. For five days, we did many activities: we swam in the sea, sunbathed, walked along the promenade, and ate at restaurants with ocean views. One night, we even saw a spectacular sunset of orange and red.

On the last day, we decided to be more adventurous and rented two paddle boards. It was very fun, although I fell into the water several times because I couldn’t keep my balance. Marta, on the other hand, was an expert.

It was a wonderful experience. We returned home very relaxed, with a tan, and eager to plan our next trip. Without a doubt, I would do it again without thinking twice.
